FAQs

How is Plasma lighters different from a traditional open flame lighter?

Plasma lighters are another windproof option. These lighters don’t rely on fuel; instead, they use electricity to generate a “flame” that looks nothing like a traditional flame. Plasma lighters run on rechargeable batteries, and they use two electrodes at one end to spark fire. With the push of a button, an electrical arc appears between the electrodes, and that arc will light whatever’s placed in its path.

One of the biggest benefits of a plasma lighter is the ease of use. You don’t have to refill any fuel, and the battery can be recharged via USB like most modern gadgets. There’s no flame to worry about — when you need to start a fire, the electricity and electrodes will get the job done.

What can I light with the Plasma Lighters?

Plasma lighters can be used to light essentially everything you can with a traditional candle lighter. For example, it can light candles, wood wick candles, incense, paper, portable gas and propane BBQ’s, wicks, fireworks, gas and propane stoves and much more!

Certain plasma lighters are designed for specific uses like our candle plasma lighter range or smokable herb lighter (Dragon's Tail) or just your everyday plasma lighters range.  The only limitation is what you can fit within the tip of the lighters electrodes that create the high intensity electric Plasma arc.

How many lights do I get out of a Plasma Lighter per charge?

Each Plasma lighter slightly varies with battery capacity. General rule of thumb a plasma lighter can last up to 100-300 ignites per charge depending how long you hold it down for each ignition.

How long does it take to charge?

If the battery is fully depleted, it can be recharged within 1-2 hours.

How can I charge my Plasma Lighter?

All Plasma lighters come with a Free USB cable that is compatible with any USB socket device such as smart phone, car, laptop USB chargers.

How can I clean my Plasma lighter?

For best performance, ensure the electrodes of your Plasma lighter are clean at all times. If there is residue or buildup around the electrodes, use a clean and dry toothbrush to gently brush it away and a dry cloth/Alcohol wipes. Do not use any abrasives or liquid cleaner. Only a dry brush or cloth/alcohol wipes.

How hot does a Plasma Lighter temperature rise to?

The Plasma lighter heats up to approximately 1,100 degrees Celsius. This is the optimal temperature in lighting most things unlike a traditional lighter where excessive heat is found above the flame that can be very dangerous and cause scorching to surrounding areas.

Is the battery in the Plasma Lighter rechargeable?

Yes, the Plasma Lighters use a quality rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that is UN 38.3 certified just like all modern devices such as smartphones.

Can I stick my fingers in between the electrodes of the Plasma lighter?

Just as you would handle a regular lighter, you should never attempt to touch the heated area that is located between the electrodes.  If you were to accidentally come in contact with the heated area, you can expect to have a similar effect to a traditional flame. However, unlike a large open flame, the area that comes in contact with your skin is very minimal. We have designed the lighter to avoid accidental contact as much as possible.

What happens if I touch the heated area by accident?

This product will not electrocute you. It is similar to getting a burn with a regular lighter except the coverage is more like 2 hot pins to your skin.

Have we tried touching the heated area ourselves?

Yes! In the name of safety, we have touched the heated area and all our experiences have been very similar: it is like touching two very hot pins. If you were to accidentally come in contact with the heated area, you may expect to get a small fright from your human senses when they touch hot objects and react like every other human does by saying “OUCH THAT'S HOT!”

If you are curious, we have a video on our instagram that will show you what it's like, however we do not recommend touching the plasma lighter heated area.

What are some safety features that are included in the Plasma lighter range?

  • All plasmas lighters have a 2 part safety switch either lid or slide to activate the plasma lighter. Then a power button to ignite the plasma lighter.
  • Each plasma lighter has a maximum ignition of 7-10 seconds
  • All electrodes on the plasma lighters are designed to be concealed and in a safe place when the plasma lighter is being stored away. (no accidental ignition)
  • In addition, unlike a regular candle lighter, A Plasma lighter has no flame that can flare-up. Dangerous flare-ups are common with traditional lighters due to a buildup of flammable gas. Whether using the lighter horizontally or vertically, there is no need to worry about a flame flaring up.

Can this product be used as a Taser or for self-defence?

Simple answer is No, Plasma lighters are not intended for these purposes. The Plasma Lighters only purpose is to be a replacement for regular candle lighters.…… :)
